I love my job. In my 9-to-5 role, I’ve had the privilege of working on some of the coolest projects, alongside the kindest, smartest, and most insightful people in mental health and wellbeing—not to mention some of the biggest names in industry and community impact, like Dove, Nike, and UNICEF. I’m incredibly proud of the projects I’ve worked on and the teams I’ve collaborated with, but there’s something different about a project that’s wholly your own. When it’s your story.
I probably watched this trailer over 30 times, not counting the times I shared it with family and friends. It felt like being five years old again, running up to my mum at school pick-up with my latest pasta artwork—gleeful and proud of the finished product. What I’m most proud of, though, is the follow-through: from that initial spark of an idea to workshopping it and finally sending out my first guest invitation.
Then there’s the learning (and maybe one day mastering) of skills I never imagined would be in my wheelhouse: podcast host, blog writer, web designer—just a few I’ve dabbled in along this journey.
The promise I made to myself from the start was to keep going as long as this project energizes me and feels purposeful. And right now, I feel as energized and purposeful as I did running up to my mum at school pick-up.
